Day 23 - Legoland Deutschland

01 August, 2011

Well the day that Danel has been looking forward to the most has finally arrived. - Today we are heading off with our friends to Legoland Deutschland, a theme park devoted entirely to Lego.  The park is located between Stuttgart and Munich and is about 270km away.
We arrived just before lunchtime.  There was a lot of traffic on the road and also a lot of roadworks in progress, so the whole trip took about three hours.  Daniel was pretty excited  when we arrived, Josh was a little reserved, after all, when you are nearly 13 is Lego still Cool?  Anyway, we went inside and saw all these lifesize characters made of Lego.  The running boys were running around to all the characters, touching them, climbing on them and posing for photos. All the figures and characters were very good, but I especially liked the Lego dog with its head in a Lego Esky.   I was beginning to wonder whether we would actually see the rest of the park or whether we would stay here all day.

I'm glad we did, as the rest of the park was also very impressive.  There were roller coasters, a log flume ride (which was Daniels Favourite), a pirate boad ride with water pistols (which was Paul's favourite, although we all got very wet).  There was a large castle, a tall rotating observation tower  and lots of other rides and exhibits.  We even saw how lego blocks get made and we all received a free Lego Block.  Joshua's favourite exhibit was an area called "Mini-world", where  there were lots of famous buildings and landmarks made of Lego.  They all looked fanastic, and were very impressive.  There was also a similar display of scenes from the Star Wars Movies, which was also very good.

We left when the park closed at 7:00pm, and even they there were areas that we had not seen. - Daniel asked if we can come back again tomorrow!, and Josh had decided that Lego is still kind of Cool.

Josh - Lego will always be cool - just ask your Dad what he uses when he prepares making cars at work - Lego of course.

Sounds like a lot of fun guys ! What an awesome time away - enjoying the blog - kinda almost like we are taking a virtual holiday - always waiting to see what you guys get up to next.

All out Love
