Day 36 - Vica (Hungary)

16 August, 2011

After another breakfast of Kolbasz, Paprika and bread (Daniel didn't want to eat anything else), Marilyn and Bebe headed into town for some last minute shopping.  This gave Josh and Daniel the chance to play a few last games on the Xbox 360.  Once the girls returned we began the task of packing the car.  It was sad to be leaving, but was time to depart for our next destination, Vica, which is where Paul's Dad grew up and one of his sisters, Roszi, still lives.  We had a bowl of Goulash for Lunch with Locsi and Bebe and then hit the road.
Vica is located about 400km away from Nagybanhedges.  With a lot of small towns to pass through, (and a lot of toilet breaks!) the trip took about 5 hours.  Towards the end of the trip Daniel announced "When I get married  and have kids I am going to take them on a holiday to Europe just like this one."  It was nice to hear since it must mean that he is enjoying himself.
We arrived in Vica about 6:00pm and spent a while driving up and down the street, trying to find the house of Aunti Roszi.  We had vague memories of it, but just couldn't find number 36.  Eventually we stopped and asked someone (in our best broken Hungarian), and found out that Auntie Roszi actually lives at No. 37.  Oh well, we were close at least!
Auntie Roszi and Uncle Toni were waiting for us and we were welcomed with hugs and kisses.  Roszi's grand-daughter Edina, who lives across the road, also came to welcome us.  She speaks German (better than ours anyway), so we were able to communicate.  Her Mum and Dad, Utca and Layos (Roszi's daughter and husband) also came over to say hello.
