We picked up our brand new Peugeot in Paris and headed out toward Rouen. Coming to terms driving a different car on the wrong side of the road took a little getting used to, but towards the end of the day I was starting to indicate to go around corners instead of trying to signal using my windscreen wipers. Since we had plenty of time on our hands when we left Peugeot,we decided we would visit Monet's house in Giverny, (Thanks for the tip, Leon!) The car has a GPS (in English) so we programmed in Giverny and away we went. Unfortunately the GPS didn't realise that there were roadworks directly outside the Peugeot office and detours were in place. Consequently we ended up driving around in circles for the first 30 minutes until we finally found a way to the Motorway. After a short trip (sticking mostly to the right side of the road!) we found ourselves at Monet's house. The house and gardens were absolutely spectacular, as beautiful if not more than what you see in Monet's painting. Its easy to see where he drew his inspiration from for so many paintings.

Notre Dame Cathedral Rouen |
After Monet's house, we headed to our Hotel in Rouen. This time the GPS didn't let us down, and we were soon checked into our Hotel. Rouen is the location where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake, so we headed downtown into the old town to checkout some French History. The old town is quite spectacular, with many medieval buildings. There is a monument and small plaque to commemorate the location where Joan of Arc died. Heading further into the old town we found Rouen Cathedral, one of the most beautiful in France. We were all getting a bit tired by this time, so its back to the Hotel room for dinner and Macarons for desert.
