Day 4 Paris - Asterix Parc

12 July, 2011

Well it's our last day in Paris today, so after three days of culture we decided to head off to Asterix parc.  Asterix parc is a theme park like Disney Land, but it is all themed around the  characters from the Asterix books.  The park is located outside of Paris, so we had to take a train to the airport, and then a connecting bus out to the Park.  When we got to the airport, the bus ticket booth was closed, the area was fenced off and there were security people about.  Turns out (we think) that there was some unattended luggage, so they shut down that part of the airport to deal with it.  30 minutes later the area was cleared, we bought a ticket and were finally on the bus.

When we arrived at Asterix parc it was raining.  A slow, persistent kind of drizzle, so our first activity was to buy a couple of rather stylish (not) ponchos.  The boys had yellow, and Mazz had blue. We wandered around in the rain for a while, but unfortunately most of the rides were closed because of the rain.  We eventually found a "Ghost train" kind of ride which was inside out of the rain, so we queued there, along with everyone else who was at the park.  After about an hour we finally made it onto the very boring ride, but much to our surprise, when we stepped back outside it had stopped raining and the sky was blue.  Now we could get down to some serious rides.  Our favourites were the roller coaster (Not brave enough to take the big one), the Log flume ride and also the plastic balls that you stand up inside of.

We headed home after that to start packing and cleaning, getting ready for our early departure tomorrow.  We ended the evening with one final trip down to the Eiffel tower, to see it lit up at night. Very Spectcular and a nice way to end our time in Paris.
