Day 3 Paris - 11th July

Another early start this morning.  We were all up, showered, dressed andhad eaten breakfast by 7:30.  We were out the door at 8:00 and ready for another big day.  We started at the Place de le Concorde, where the large obelisk is located.  This is the same spot where Marie Antoinette was sent to the guillotine during the french revolution.  We couldn't get too close to the obelisk as it was roped off and they are errecting grandstands, most likely for the finishing stage of the Tour de France (7 days time?).  After a leisurely walk through the gardens, we arrived at the Louvre just at opening time.  Again, there was a line that stretched as far as the eye could see, but this time we were prepared.  We had pre booked our tickets, so we were able to bypass the queue and stroll straight in. We started with the highlights, such as the Mona Lisa and Venus De Milo.  The boys went crazy with their cameras, taking photos of just about everything.  After a couple of hours we had all had enough, so it was off to the next stop, the Arc De Triumph.

We bought a couple of baguettes for lunch, and were sitting down to admire the Arc De Triumph when we noticed a con man, with his "Hey you dropped this gold ring routine" - Just like we had read about in the guide books.  He even tried his routine on us but we just waved him on.  After a walk qround the Arc, we headed down the Champs Elyesee, stopping to admire all the expensive shops.  We went inside Louis Vitton, but none of the $1000 E handbags appealed to Mazz, so unfortunately we left empty handed.  Maybe we'll find something in YSL for her instead!

In the afternoon we visited Napolean's tomb, which is also the home of the French military museum.  This is the largest collection of medieval arms and armour I have ever seen.  There was also a detailed history of France's role in WW1 and WW2.  The boys and I were quite fascinated by it all, but Mazz seemed a little distracted and less than captivated. - Perhaps she was reconsidering that handbag!

Hey!!!!! "When in Paris do as the Parisians do", how come no-one is wearing a Beret.
Those Baguettes look delicious, Daniel Son looks like he only has ham, where is all the salad.
Sounds like everyone is having a great time, just dont do a Mickle Pickle dummy spit.
Is the Mona Lisa the real deal or just a copy, some-one told me that it is not very big.
Wow $1000 EU for a handbag, that is scary, but it is Louis Vitton.
The weather looks absolutely fantastic, I am so jealous.
